Dr. Daniel Britt is an expert in out of this world rocks. He has multiple degrees including a Ph.D. in geological sciences from Brown University. His research focuses onusing remote sensing tools to determine the composition and evolution of solar system objects such as asteroids, comets, and Mars.
Every NASA rover that’s been sent to the Red Planet, including the current Curiosity Rover, has included equipment Britt designed and built. He is currently investigating the properties of Lunar and Martian rocks under several NASA grants.
He is a professor at UCF and is a member of the International Astronomical Union and the American Astronomical Society. He was the Chairperson for the Division for Planetary Sciences of the American Astronomical Society in 2011-12 and asteroid 4395 Danbritt is named after him for his contributions to planetary sciences.
