Professor McGuire joined the Psychology Department at UCF in 1972. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from Eckerd College and an M.A. in Child Development from the University of Minnesota. His Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology is from the George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University (1971). Professor McGuire served as Chair of the Department of Psychology from 1995-2003. In August 2003 he assumed a new role as Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences. His primary areas of responsibility as Associate Dean in the College of Sciences involve oversight of budget, faculty hiring, technology support, and facilities planning. His major research interests have been in the clinical psychology area including: ethics issues; ethics training; professional ethical decision-making; privacy, confidentiality and informed consent. In addition to his administrative role, he continues to be active on thesis and dissertation committees.
